The Island Rock Show is a series of concerts that celebrates only the very best of independent music.
This fifth show is entitled The Island Rock Show 5: Mentras Tanto and will feature the Filipino independent reggae band The Wicked Tarsiers.
The title of the show is taken from a song by The Wicked Tarsiers, which will be part of their repertoire for that night.
'Mentras Tanto' in Español and Visayan means "as long as". It implies a disgust, an ire, over the status quo (as long as there is injustice...) and a determination to effect change (as long as we still breathe...).
IRE strongly feels this need for change. We believe that our part in this struggle is to start a powerful revolution with the use of art, music and all forms of creative human expression. As long as we live, we will create things that matter. As long as we breath, we will speak our message.
The Island Rock Show 5: Mentras Tanto will happen on April 10, 2010 at Cafe Joint, Bacolod City, in the Philippine Islands.

For more than two decades, Asia’s premiere vocal group – The CompanY and irrepressible funny man – Jon Santos, have proven to be the quintessential quick change artists. As seasoned artisans of their craft, it is their chameleonic abilities to reinvent and adapt that have made them credible, dependable and effective powerhouses in the arena of the live concert stage.
On July 31 (Friday) and August 1 (Saturday) – The CompanY and Jon Santos will showcase their best showstoppers in a musical comedy revue entitled “QUICK CHANGE” to be held at Star Theater, CCP Complex. “QUICK CHANGE” is the debut production of Ambient Media Events and shall also feature upcoming artists: Reymond Sajor (Wycopa Grand Champion) and Jez Salcedo.

“QUICK CHANGE” refers to the concerts’ multi genre music that explores different eras, styles and influences. The shows’ repertoire runs the gamut from big band to standards, from classical to rock, from a cappella showstoppers to Brazilian grooves, and more. “QUICK CHANGE” also refers to the concerts’ visual and theatrical elements – change of characters, change of costumes and looks, etc. Miss Ria Osorio leads the 6-piece band composed of the members of Gerard Salonga’s orchestra, FILharmoniKA.
“QUICK CHANGE” is directed by a team of highly respected veterans in Philippine theater, namely: Menchu Lauchengco Yulo, Chari Arespacochaga and Manman Angsico. Band arrangements by Beth Martin, JD Villanueva, Ria Osorio and Moy Ortiz.

The Camerawalls rises from the ashes of Orange & Lemons – which disbanded in September 2007 after skyrocketing to popularity on the merit of three distinct albums that found favor in a discriminating musical audience. The band’s debut album “Soul Up” is composed of eleven original tracks including a bossa nova rendition of their single Nice Place. JPD also contributed a song to the compilation Hopia, Mani, Popcorn 2 with their version of “Bato Sa Buhangin”, an original from the 70’s band Cinderella. To create a Motown flavor, they added two new female members to compliment the band’s musicality. For sure, anybody can dance to the groove tha this fabulous soul band has to offer. The band’s influences include Ray Charles, The Who, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and many more.
